Searching for Photos/Information/Details on My Great Uncle Ian Stewart Ross S/N 18839 RAAF while Undergoing Training at RAAF Western Junction Tasmania in 1942. His Unit was 7 EFTS and He was Part of A Flight, His Course Number was 25 (P), He was Present there from 28 May to 6 August 1942. His Flight Commander was F/L GTA Cresswell RAAF, His CFI was F/L REH Hodges RAAF and His Commander was W/C GC Matthews RAAF. His Main Instructors were Sgt GW Hite RAAF and P/O HV Beeck RAAF. The Tiger Moths He flew in Training are A17-303, A17-117, A17-686, T54-58, A17-131, A17-392, A17-214, A17-118, A17-119, A17-52, T53-60, A17-388, T55-59 And T54-10.
I have Included a Photo of Him in case it Jogs Anyones Memories. Am also Intrested in Anything on His Instructors CFI etc or the Tiger Moths Listed.
Ian went to Canada and Commenced Operations in January 1944 attacking Berlin. He Completed 70 Operations and was Killed on His 71st with 617 RAF Squadron on 12 January 1945. He has No Known Resting Place. His Cousin and Another Relation were Killed on HMAS Sydney in 1941 (1 RAN 1 RAAF) and His Dad died in 1928 from His wounds to the Head in 1917 at Camberwell in Victoria.
He flew 2 Tours with 57 RAF Squadron and 617 RAF Squadron.
